Payout Modernization — Venmo & PayPal
Replaced a high-cost, fraud-exposed payout path with Venmo and PayPal payouts tied to verified phone numbers.
The problem
Benjamin relied heavily on Worldpay for member payouts, incurring high transaction costs and exposing the platform to fraud via anonymous gift card withdrawals.
What I did
- Launched Venmo and PayPal payouts tied to users’ verified phone numbers.
- Leveraged native KYC and account verification to reduce fraud risk.
- Implemented automatic refund handling and dynamic funding via a centralized business PayPal account, with a 30-day auto-refund for unclaimed payouts.
